Sociomap®

What is a Sociomap®?

A Sociomap is a method of visualization for complex data, which resembles a landscape, and therefore the same rules can be used for interpretation as for the orientation in a map (see Fig above). TPA uses graphic expressions of similarities/non-similarities of profiles, in which differences between individuals and/or subgroups can be tested.

  • Position on the Sociomap: determines similarity of profiles of selected individuals. The more similar the profiles, the closer the two objects on the Sociomap; the more diverse the profiles, the further apart they are from each other on the Sociomap. Similarity of profiles is calculated by means of a chosen distance function.
  • Height on the Sociomap: expresses the selected test or numeric non-test characteristic. In this case, the general similarity of team member profiles has been chosen.
